Combatives
Since the dawn of human existence, violence has been imminent. Before we had developed weapons, we used our hands so I recommend being able to handle yourself against an attacker (or likely multiple). This is not a “martial art” nor is it meant for use in competition. This is a last resort IF you find yourself in harms way against a violent adversary(s). Bear in mind, you may have to justify your actions in a court of law (NOT legal advice).
Our general curriculum is as follows:
- Non-violent conflict resolution & awareness
- Pre threat indicators & reactionary gap
- Combative concepts & violence of action
- Anatomical targeting
- Bio-mechanics & methods of control
- Stance & footwork
- Rhythm, distancing & timing
- Basic boxing strikes & combinations
- Boxing defensive techniques
- “Dirty boxing” & lethal strikes
- Clinches / pummeling & wall fight
- Law enforcement defensive tactics
- Joint pressure locks / pain compliance
- Takedowns & throws
- Hold counters & escapes
- Fundamental BJJ grappling (guard, mount, side mount, etc)
- Chokes
- Defense against blunt & edged weapons
- Weapon disarms
- Multiple attackers
- Vehicle, aquatic & tight space combatives
- Improvised weapons lab
Please note that the 3 day self defense course is designed to give someone very basic tools at a minimum level in a small time frame. Please do not take the 3 day course and become overconfident. A person cannot become proficient in 3 days, or even 3 months. To become completely competent in this area, please inquire about the full 9 month program as students are selected on only a case by case basis.
You will need:
- AN OPEN MIND
- A mouth guard (already molded for your teeth)
- 12 oz. or equivalent boxing gloves
- A calm, non-confrontational and non-aggressive attitude (if you don’t, other students will humble you. There is always someone better than you.)
You will be provided:
- Course syllabus
- Paper & pencil
After registration, you will be emailed a comprehensive document with everything you want to know about the course. Our instructors are ready for more questions if you have them. Breathe when you need to, and rest if you must, but just do NOT GIVE UP!
